Plan B

Managing short-term rentals was, to put it mildly, not for me.

There were nights I lay awake, praying, “Dear God, please get me out of this!”—and that’s no exaggeration.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I understand the appeal of short-term rentals. We use them ourselves and love the space they provide for our large family to stay together. They can also be a great business opportunity. But the farmhouse? She’s different.

She’s old. She’s quirky. She doesn’t have a dishwasher.

She’s the kind of place that demands time to fully appreciate her charm.

So, we made the decision to pivot and switch to rentals of 31 nights or more.

The relief was instant. No more frequent turnovers, and guests now have the chance to truly experience the tranquility I feel when I’m on the farm.

With this change, we’ve even managed to adjust the fencing, making more of the farm accessible to us without disturbing our guests.

It’s been a win all around.
