General Information

Access and Activities

You are invited to use the farmhouse and yard surrounding the house, but please do not enter the other structures on the grounds.

The closet in the north, upstairs bedroom of the farmhouse is private and locked, please do not attempt to open it.

You may see deer and other wild animals on the property. You may enjoy their presence, but hunting is not allowed.

We hope you have a wonderful time during your stay, however, please keep noise to a minimum during nighttime hours. By city ordinance, quiet hours start at 10 pm.

A support strap and carabiner clip are hung on the cedar tree across from the backdoor. The hammock swing can be attached to the carabiner clip. Please bring the swing back inside when you’re finished using it.

Power and Connectivity

The thermostat is located in the living room above the blue dresser. Extreme outdoor temperatures can occur in Oklahoma, so please keep that in mind as you set the thermostat.

Please make sure you switch off lights, fans, or any small electrical appliances anytime you leave the property.

Unexpected Events

Please treat the farmhouse with respect as you would your own home. The farmhouse is a little delicate and quirky, so please notify us if anything needs attention.

Please notify us immediately if any accidental damage occurs during your stay so we can address the issue.

Guests are responsible for the safety and security of their children at all times. Please do not leave your children without adult supervision on the property.

We are not responsible for the loss of any personal belongings or valuables. If you misplace something in the house, please let us know so we can look for the item during the changeover.

In case of an emergency, emergency information is affixed to the side of the fridge.

Trash

Please use the designated recycling and trash bins in the kitchen. Refer to the list of appropriate items for each bin to ensure proper disposal. Visit the OKC.gov website for information on trash and recycling days.

Our farm is on a septic system. To avoid any issues, please refrain from flushing any sanitary products down the toilet. Each bathroom is equipped with a bin for this purpose.

Please do not dispose of food waste down the drain. Use the trash bin instead.

Kitchen

Caution: Please be careful when transitioning from the kitchen to the living area as there is a slight step down.

Our farmhouse uses well-water.  Well water is considered “hard water” because it contains more minerals than city water. You may notice a different taste if you’re used to bottled or city water, but our water has been tested and it is safe to drink.

We provide the basics, such as cooking oil, simple seasoning and some condiments. Always check the expiry date before eating anything. We try to make sure not to leave expired food in the house, but it’s possible we missed an item.

You’ll find dish soap and cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. Please feel free to use them. If you run out of anything, and wish to replace it, kindly replace them with the same brand.

White kitchen towels for drying dishes are in the drawer to the right of the sink.

To make it easier for us to keep track of our inventory, please return any kitchen items you use to their original location.

The strainer in the drain works as a stopper as well. Turn the center knob in the strainer to open and close the drain.

We understand that it can be overwhelming to step into a new kitchen. That’s why we’ve created this resource.

Please do not put any food down the drain.

Laundry

To make your stay more comfortable, we provide a washer, dryer, laundry supplies, and basic cleaning items for your convenience. You can find these items, along with an iron and ironing board, behind the blue bi-folding doors located in the study. Please remember to turn off and unplug the iron after use.

Barbecue

Please use the designated barbecue utensils provided (rather than regular kitchen tongs) to avoid damaging the grill surface. It is also important to clean the barbecue after use to ensure it stays in good condition. Cleaning right after use is easier than waiting until the next day when the grime and grease have hardened.

If you are unfamiliar with how to use or clean our grill or have any questions, please feel free to text us at 405-877-BARN (2276).
